Welcome to Pentecost Ranch We are a proud family-owned operation nestled on a sprawling 10,000-acre expanse in the heart of Florida. We’re hiring a Ranch Manager to join our team in Myakka City, Florida (about 25 miles east of Sarasota). In this role you will lead and oversee all aspects of operations at the ranch including supervising livestock operations, sod operations, and recreational aspects of the ranch.

We manage a thriving herd of 1,100 head of cattle, with plans to expand to 2,500-3,000 in the next three years. Our ranch is not only dedicated to cattle ranching but also engages in a robust sod operation, contributing to the preservation of Florida's rich ranching heritage. In this role you will be doing:

  • Developing and executing strategic plans addressing seasonal, agricultural, and biological needs of the ranch.
  • Preparing for and accommodating the presence of owners and guests at the ranch.
  • Innovating and proposing new ways to manage and utilize ranch land and assets, including identifying potential revenue streams from cattle and sod operations.
  • Effectively communicate daily operations and expectations to staff.
  • Supervising and managing ranch staff and contract labor, including cowboys, mechanical, and landscape teams.
  • Lead by example with hands-on involvement and support staff in all aspects of cattle and sod operations.
  • Develop and enforce operational checklists, training programs, schedules, and evaluations.
  • Implement and uphold comprehensive safety programs for staff.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local vendors and business owners.
  • Monitor and maintain mechanical systems, and ensure proficient use of all equipment, tools, and vehicles.
  • Develop and manage the operating budget, including inventory guidelines and P&L statements.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and maintain all required records.
  • Represent Pentecost Ranch at industry-specific meetings.
  • Handle equipment, tools, chemicals, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, adhering to safety procedures.

This job is for you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in agricultural management, including cattle and sod operations, and effective team leadership.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, exceptional customer service, high-quality standards, and effective team direction.
  • Work flexible hours and weekends as necessary.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Exhibit strong communication, organizational skills and logical problem-solving abilities.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Monitor and support staff development, lifting up to 60 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds constantly.
