Research Investigator
The Division of Transplant Surgery and The Transplant Surgery Research Laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is seeking a highly qualified PhD research investigator with expertise in molecular and cellular biology in immunology, aging, or related fields, to work on clinical and experimental transplantation projects.
A focus of our work is on organ rejuvenation: perfusion/preservation and immunosenescence, as well as on cell signaling mechanisms that regulate organ aging and age-related immunity. The laboratory’s goal is to delineate critical drivers of aging and to bring novel approaches of organ rejuvenation to clinical application. There is also a focus on dissecting mechanisms in aging and their effects on alloimmunity, striving to bring age-specific treatments to clinical application. An additional interest is on the delineation of metabolic influences on organ rejection and on studies delineating the effects of biological sex on alloimmunity.
This position offers outstanding scholarly and scientific opportunity in a collegial and collaborative department as well as other related departments throughout Harvard Medical School. The division is looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual who will both, lead and support ongoing research projects, including the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals. Other duties include teaching and supervising graduate students or junior post-docs.
We welcome applications from highly motivated and independent-minded individuals. Candidates must have either a PhD or equivalent graduate degree in immunology/aging or a related field with experience in collaborative interdisciplinary research as evidenced by publication record, research projects, or previous positions. Ideally, candidates will have previously published in high-ranking journals and have applied for funding. The candidate must also have effective communications skills, strong scientific writing and literature review skills, a facility with basic statistical analysis, and an aptitude for mentoring fellows, residents, and students.
Salary and academic appointment as an Instructor or Assistant Professor level, at the Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements.
