SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively seeking diligent, reliable and talented individuals to join our team as a Preventative Maintenance (PM) Mechanic.  As a PM Mechanic, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, light repair functions, and corrective maintenance tasks on stationary equipment in a metals recycling yard.

This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, Environmental, and DOT standards.

Responsibilities for a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic:

  • Perform all routine and preventative maintenance tasks (fluid checks/fills, lubrication, drive belts/hoses changes, and inspections.) on a metal recycling shredder and other stationary metals recycling equipment per the manufacturer and SA Recycling guidelines.
  • Under direct or indirect supervision, complete change outs for rollers, bearings, conveyer belts, etc.
  • Rebuild and/or fabricate parts to defined specifications
  • Generate shop supply and parts order requests to ensure adequate inventory levels for critical and non-critical components.
  • Inform the facilities General Manager on all maintenance or repair tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
  • Model safe working habits and always abide by all safety policies and procedures.
  • Organize, clean, and maintain a safe working area and shop.
  • Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling’s Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.

Qualifications for a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic:

  • Vocational/Technical degree highly desired.
  • 0 -3 years preventative maintenance experience in an industrial setting or on a military installation preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to complete, and successfully pass a drug screen, physical and background check.
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus
