POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Sales & Marketing Manager will facilitate, organize, and manage all sales and marketing activities across the company to drive business growth. This role requires a dynamic individual with a proven track record in sales and marketing, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing the entire customer journey, from lead generation to product sales and client acquisition. They will collaborate cross functionally, particularly with creative, product, and account teams, to understand the organization’s value proposition to customer segments and facilitate the development of sales and marketing materials that clearly communicate Milepost’s value proposition. They will work cross-functionally to identify marketing and business development opportunities and market trends and support the organization in responding accordingly. This role will serve as an ambassador for the organization’s brand in all sales and marketing activities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Management
  • Support the development of a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with business goals.
  • Manage the creation and implementation of the company’s marketing mix (including multi-channel campaigns, PR and advertising, award nominations, speaking engagements, etc.).
  • Develop short and long form marketing content (e.g., blogs, social, email, award nominations, conference abstracts).
  • Support the development of pricing strategies and promotional plans to maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to produce materials and content that resonates with the intended audience(s).
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Gather and analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform marketing strategies.
  • Support budget development and track marketing spend.
Sales Management
  • Support the development of the sales strategy to align with business goals.
  • Implement sales strategies to achieve company sales targets and objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the customer, client, and partnership base.
  • Represent Milepost at conferences and events.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to customer and client acquisition.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet revenue goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients and partners in the energy industry, specifically municipally owned utilities and government agencies.
  • Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals, including RFx responses. This includes: 1) Collaborating with the Accounts team to plan and prepare proposals, including identifying the strategic approach and potential partnerships, and 2) Project managing the proposal development process, ensuring proposals meet requirements and are submitted on time.
  • Organize and lead internal team sales training as needed.
  • Support budget development and track spend.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Develop the Hubspot CRM strategy to align with business goals.
  • Manage Hubspot CRM to track and report on customer engagement, ensuring consistent documentation and regular data hygiene.
  • Develop and manage CRM marketing activities, including list management, automation strategies, and identifying opportunities for increased efficiency.
  • Identify and develop automated sales and marketing reports.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and effectively.

  • Professionalism regarding schedules, deadlines, and work processes. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with new, internet-based technologies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven success in sales and marketing.
  • Demonstrated success in highly ambiguous environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Most work activities are conducted at a desk on a computer. 
  • Frequent overnight travel to other cities and states is required. Up to 30% of your time may be spent traveling.
  • Travel to client locations may or may not have handicap accessible options.   
  • Routine lifting and carrying of equipment and luggage necessary to conduct business.
