The Opportunity

This position works out of our Dallas, TX location in the Core Lab Division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

As the Systems Integration Supervisor, youâll be responsible for routine supervision and application of advanced engineering and/or integration and scientific principles to evaluate and provide solutions to technical problems. Oversees and may initiate the planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing of engineering and/or integration work. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes, and continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a life-cycle balanced system of systems and system/subsystems solution(s) which satisfies customer/operational needs and public/regulatory acceptability. Ensures verification and validation (V&V) strategy and plan results in end-to-end traceability of functionality and product performance requirements.

Communicate frequently with a broad group of individuals across Abbott to ensure the success of laboratory operations and compliance. Implement, improve, and manage processes that govern laboratory inventory (materials and parts), scheduling, environmental monitoring, instrument resource allocation, audit readiness, service orders, maintenance (internal and external), equipment compliance, etc.

What Youâll Work On

  • Maintains laboratory compliance (e.g., laboratory inventory (materials and parts), scheduling, environmental monitoring, instrument resource allocation, audit readiness, service orders, maintenance (internal and external), equipment compliance (TSB and PM tracking) etc.) and the subsequent documentation required to support investigation, feasibility, and verification activities.

  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set organizational/team goals. Accountable for managing resources assigned to project tasks.

  • Translate goals into the day-to-day activities necessary to accomplish them. Develop contingency plans to accommodate unplanned events.

  • Responsible for supervising, developing, and motivating direct reports. Provides technical guidance and functional management to support improvement initiatives in systems, designs, methods, etc.

  • Ensure supervisory direct reports understand their jobs and how they will be measured against performing their jobs satisfactorily.

  • Identify and ensure appropriate utilization of personnel resources and tools needed for activity/project.

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct supervisory reports.

  • Disseminate corporate-, division-, R&D CoE-, and site-related information to supervisory direct reports. Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies, quality system and project goals; ensures necessary documentation is in place to meet quality and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure continual improvement in the productivity of supervisory direct reports and cross-functional teams, both on long-term projects as well as from project to project

  • Creating a work environment that achieves program/project objectives and supports cross-functional effectiveness by partnering with multiple groups/functions within the organization. Inclusive of but not limited to Software, Hardware, Reagents, Verification, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Project Management, Third-Party Manufacturers (TPM), etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorâs degree in science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or closely related discipline

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and executing test plans/protocols, V&V activities, and analyzing test reports.

  • Experiencing leading and developing a team

  • Demonstrated Good Lab Practices and Good Documentation Practices

  • Proven ability of analytical problem solving and experience with system level failure analysis and root cause analysis.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The base pay for this position is $83,000.00 â $166,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
