Job Purpose
This position oversees a strong connection to the associate population.  With this individual’s leadership, this team provides guidance to the associates for Talent Management and HR Service Delivery. By providing strategic operational direction, leadership, and oversight, the role of the HR Operations Director – Talent Management & HR Service Delivery is managing, responding to and providing timely resolutions to associates’ requests, inquiries and questions. Central to all aspects of HR Operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness and completion of all associate related workflows. This role ensures that HR processes and systems are accurate, efficient, compliant, and aligned with the company's overall business objectives.  The need to create seamless, real time, fit for purpose, once and done answers is critical. The primary focus of this individual is to be an associate advocate such that they leverage their knowledge, skills and experience to enhance the associate’s experience within Honda. 

 

Key Accountabilities
Operational Efficiency:

  • Ensuring the efficient functioning of HR processes and workflows, including Talent Management Life Cycle, HR Service Delivery, Onboarding, Mobility, etc.
  • Identifying opportunities for process optimization, automation, and cost-effective solutions
  • Ensure successful Onboarding of over 3,000+ new associates annually
  • Providing smooth and efficient Offboarding to existing associates and retiree
  • Manage multiple vendor relationships – understand the Request for Proposal process, partner with internal Procurement Dept, and ongoing vendor management 
  • Improving existing workflows – move away from paper-based solutions to automation with ease of access for all associates
  • Enhance Service Delivery for Division 
  • Oversee Corporate Relocation programs and the providing vendor management to ensure excellent customer service is provided to all associates in transit
  • Direct Immigration Program such that all effected associates are clearly communicated to regarding the benefits we offer and the services we provide
  • Drive people analytics to demonstrate accuracy and scope when impacting the associate population
  • Manage Operational Scorecard to reflect progress on major initiatives
  • Tracking all associate cases and investigate root causes 
  • Strong reporting and analytics to provide total visibility of HR work to continually improve service delivery

Team Operation:  

  • Oversee operations by working closely with direct reports and other Team Members
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team responsible for various aspects of HR operations   
  • Ensure the team is skilled, motivated, and aligned with HR and organizational goals
  • Advocate for your team members when necessary to realign workloads and add resources when required
  • Continued Talent Development within Operations Team 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Collaborate with other division, departments, business leaders, and external partners to understand their HR needs and align HR operations to support the organization's goals
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Be a trusted advisor and technical expert when suggesting new pieces of work or changes in workflow

Continuous Improvement: 

  • Proactively identify leading initiatives for process improvement, automation, and innovation within HR operations
  • Stay current with industry best practices and trends
  • Leverage industry experts when necessary to advance Honda’s HR Service Delivery 
  • Search for innovative technology to gain efficiencies in workflow while ensuring accuracy and data management 
  • Understand methodology of Lean Six Sigma to drive strong project management mindset

Compliance and Risk Management: 

  • Oversee compliance with federal, state and local labor laws, regulations, and company policies to minimize legal and compliance risks
  • Manages all Leaves of Absences
  • Oversee all audits internal and external with a focus on SOX
  • Ensure all necessary training is delivered in a timely fashion

 

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development or a technical field. 

 

Required Work Experience

  • Minimum of 12 years experience of progressive HR or Talent experience, including positions of increasing responsibility
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in leading and managing large, complex teams, preferably in HR operations
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations and managing HR-related risks

 

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and management skills to lead HR teams effectively
  • Proficiency in optimizing HR operations, streamlining processes, and improving efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex HR topics clearly and effectively to various stakeholders
  • The ability to build and develop high-performing HR teams and foster a positive workplace culture
  • Familiarity with HRIS, SAP (Success Factors, Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll) and other technology solutions for process improvement and data management
  • The ability to engage with various stakeholders, including senior management, business leaders, and associates
  • Proven track record of innovation concepts to implementation
  • Six Sigma mindset to focus resources on project progression

 

Working Conditions

  • Open office environment 
  • Minimal Remote availability (in office at least 70% of work week) 
  • Travel – Up to 25%
