The Director of the Intercultural Family Support Center is responsible for the development and maintenance of center operations, events, and activities. The incumbent leads high quality supports to the individuals, families, provider agencies and funders of the Family Support Program. They ensure all aspects of the program, contract and budget are implemented consistent with the funding agency contract and guidance and organization’s desires including providing culturally and linguistically responsible services as delineated in the contract.

Responsibilities

- Provide Information and Referral, and Extended and Short-Term Case Management for individuals and their families.
- Provide support to the family in the development of Family Service Plans (FSP) and program specific interventions including staff resources, goods, and services for individuals across life stages and domains.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual data collection reports in compliance with funder requests and the Family Support Program Manual & Guidelines.
- Promote self-determination values and self-directed options that are responsive to the individual and family’s unique needs, strengths, and cultural values.
- Assist family with obtaining all governmental entitlements and build on existing community supports and maximize generic resources.
- Create robust social/recreational opportunities including partnerships with other community resources and providers.
- Update and maintain program website information including events calendars, newsletters, service descriptions, resources, and marketing materials.
- Administer DDS flex funding as available to support families, complete necessary forms and financial oversight as outlined in Advocates internal policies and procedures and the DDS Family Support Guidelines.
- Establish a family Advisory Council to obtain feedback from families and continually enhance the quality of services.
- Assist in new program development and facilitate networking and mentoring between families.
- Sponsor educational events and trainings on relevant topics of interests to families.
- Supervise and support service navigators/case managers as assigned.
- Provide content for family information and support through digital outreach and other social media platforms.
- Manage and streamline administrative processes and requirements in consultation with affiliated senior managers or designees including but not limited to Fiscal Services, Human Resources, Information Services, and Maintenance functions.
- Manage and administer budget for assigned program and monitor and improve productivity.
- Perform and supervise the writing of grant proposals and the management of grants and contracts.
- Educate family members on policies and procedures generated by the state, Advocates, specific treatment modalities and other matters requiring explanation.
- Maintain productive internal and external communication with staff, management, family members and funders.
- Organize, gather, and maintain an ongoing database of resources for families being served.
- Provide supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for all staff in the Family Support Center.
- Remain current and knowledgeable in the field of disabilities and stay informed about the needs of the families and individuals served.
- Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates’ Way and Human Rights Policy.
- Provide transportation as needed.
- Provide on call support as needed.

Qualifications

- BA/BS in social services or related field plus 3 years supervisory experience Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and/or Brazilian Portuguese preferred
- Lived experience as a family member of an individual with developmental disabilities preferred
- Experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
- Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and ability to use good judgment.
- Ability to read English and communicate effectively in the primary language of the program to which he/she is assigned.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the population we support.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- High energy level, superior interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
- Must have valid driver’s license and access to auto
