POSITION SCOPE:

The CFO is a key senior leadership team member and is responsible for managing the company's financial actions. The CFO's role includes financial leadership and planning, as well as analyzing the company's business and financial trends and proactively proposing plans to enhance its financial condition. The CFO will be critical in strategic planning, risk management, and economic forecasting, ensuring alignment with McKim & Creed's growth objectives and core values.

YOUR DAY-DAY WILL INCLUDE:

Companywide Leadership:

  • Excel in project cost accounting and streamline financial processes across all company functions.
  • Foster partnerships throughout the company to enhance financial literacy and acumen among business leaders.
  • Supervise annual planning and rolling forecast processes to ensure alignment with financial objectives.
  • Direct Accounting and Finance Department activities, including cash management, tax analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Provide recommendations for profit-improving actions to managers and senior leadership.
  • Oversee the Information Technology group to ensure reliable, state-of-the-art, and secure technology systems meet business needs.

Business and Revenue Growth:

  • Evaluate services and geographies to determine crucial strategies for company profitability and expansion, including office leases.
  • Implement project cost control policies and procedures while identifying business risks and opportunities.
  • Establish and manage banking relationships and credit arrangements to support firm growth.
  • Conduct financial evaluations on potential business opportunities and lead negotiations for strategic alliances, partnerships, and acquisitions.

Controls, Audit, and Tax Reporting Functions:

  • Administer the company's ESOP, ensuring federal compliance, liaising with the Trustee, and supporting the culture of employee ownership
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all required tax returns and reports
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax requirements and annual reporting.
  • Coordinate responses to government, client, and external audits.

Additionally, the CFO will serve as a people leader, overseeing the direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Information Technology, Finance, and Accounting Teams.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Minimum of 10 years of financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a CFO or similar executive role, preferably in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry or professional services sectors.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of developing and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to lead and explain financial forecasts and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of financial regulations, reporting requirements, and industry-specific challenges in the AEC sector.
