Position Overview:

This position is responsible for communicating and supporting JM core values and delivering the JM experience. The Team Leader performs several duties, including, but not limited to, following written and verbal instructions, and making decisions using good judgment based on prevailing conditions. The Team Leader is responsible for the entire production work crew and all functions related to the Production department. The Team Leader has overall responsibility for coordinating and managing assigned resources and employees to produce high quality products safely and efficiently. 

Responsibilities: 

• Adheres to the JM Life Critical Policies (Lock-Tag-Clear-Try; Line Breaking; Confined Space; Fall Protection; Arc Flash, Live Electrical Work; and working while under the influence).
• Follow the Job Safety Analyses, use safe work practices, and report hazardous conditions always.
• Conduct/manage the Daily Safety Huddle Meetings with work crew.
• Lead the production crew in meeting all monthly safety metric goals.
• Ensure all equipment and work areas are always clean and orderly, per assigned 5S housekeeping schedule.
• Trains production members on Production Product Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, Plant Rules, and all Shift Expectations
• Understanding and implementation of the Pay-4-Skills program
• Trains new employees on plant safety requirements for specific machinery
• Understand product specifications and manufacturing standards
• Understands and utilizes the RCCA/5Why Process.
• Responsible for all plant environmental equipment and inspections.
• Support the reorganization projects with the goal of reducing scrap and waste.
• Performs/manages daily & weekly environmental inspections
• Performs quarterly employee reviews with department staff.
• Plans, assigns, and prepares work activities for direct reports within the Production Team/Shift.
• Distribute Daily Shift Report to staff prior to end of shift
• Communicate day-to-day issues with the Production Superintendent
• Close out Production Orders in a timely manner
• Perform preventive maintenance as required.
• Maintain inventory on non-raw materials to reduce downtime
• Experienced in all SAP functions required within the Production function of the plant.
• Participate and/or drive continuous improvement initiatives.  
• Will be trained in and respond to situations requiring First Aid, CPR, or the use of an AED.

  Daily Tasks:

  • Daily meetings with senior operators to make sure needs are met                              
  • Verify raw materials meet production needs                                                   
  • Create next day lineup (who works where)                                                      
  • Daily report out on prior day performance                                                       
  • Ensure Employee Training Plan is being followed                                                        
  • ADP corrections                                                          
  • Communicate Production needs in weekly maintenance scheduling meeting.                         
  • Communicate completed Maintenance Requests to Submitter                                               
  • Scheduling Operations Projects for Down Weeks                                                        
  • Request Operations Needs from Maintenance                                                
  • Audit hour by hour board
  • ADP Approvals                                                
  • Manage / adjust raw material pipelines                                                           
  • Maintain outage work list (downtime, etc)                                                       
  • Create/review 3 standard work a week, include operators in process
  • Learn and backup for other lead roles                                                                                                             

    Leadership Responsibilities:

    • This person must have the skills to interact as a leader with all plant department employees.
    • Lead pre-shift huddles
    • Overseeing and coaching employees
    • Assist with setting daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicating them to employees

      Requirements: (education, skills, and abilities)

      • High School Diploma 
      • 5 Years Manufacturing Experience
      • Demonstrated Supervisory Experience 
      • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills 
      • Demonstrated Ability to Troubleshoot and Handle Multiple Priorities and Projects 
      • Working Knowledge of Software Programs Such as Spreadsheet, Word Processing and Data Base Programs. 
      • Current JM employees must have a working knowledge of the positions or a willingness to learn them.

        Physical Requirements:

        The physical requirements of this position are: (these requirements are typical for most of our manufacturing roles)                                                                                  

        • The ability to stand for extended periods
        • The ability to manually lift, push or pull at least 50 pounds safely and with proper body mechanics, sometimes while in awkward positions.                                                                                             
        • Use of hands (repetitive motion, grabbing, feeling, sensing, pulling)                                       
        • The ability to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful work environment
        • The ability to safely and effectively work in an often-dusty work environment that experiences a broad range of temperatures (very hot to very cold).                                                                                              
        • The ability to withstand the rigors of working a 12(or 8)-hour rotating shift schedule.                        
        • The ability to bend, stoop or kneel repetitively.                                                                                            
        • The ability to reach or work above the shoulder
