Position Overview:

The Retail Operations Leader is accountable for achieving Sales and Profit objectives within the store by devising a strategy to deliver an exceptional Customer Experience.

This role involves ensuring the presence of a high-performing Team and facilitating their growth, alongside engaging in talent and leadership development as well as structured performance management based on results, values, and leadership principles.

The Retail Operations Leader collaborates with legal requirements and H&M standards, policies, and procedures to meet the expectations of both customers and colleagues.

This position reports to the Area Sales Manager and oversees the following roles: Visual Merchandising Manager (based on store volume), Department Manager, Department Supervisor (based on store volume), Visual Merchandisers (based on store volume), Cash Office Responsible (based on store volume), and Sales Associates.


Daily Responsibilities:
  • Sales and Profit Management:

Regularly assess and monitor Sales & Profit KPIs, taking necessary actions to optimize results.

Ensure adherence to store operations, H&M standards, and best practices, including effective scheduling to enhance conversion rates and facilitate commercial activities (e.g., Moves, Sales, Events, Tasks, and Routines) while delivering excellent customer service within the allocated sales budget.

Collaborate with the Area and Store team to prioritize actions and provide feedback on store allocations to maintain optimal garment levels that positively impact sales.

Manage store maintenance efficiently to meet H&M standards and initiate actions as needed.

Work proactively to prevent loss in collaboration with the Store Team, ensuring compliance with all relevant Audit guidelines.

Actively engage in executing store routines and tasks, including but not limited to delivery processing, garment handling, markdowns, and price adjustments.


  • Team Leadership:

Oversee and manage recruitment, training, development, and succession planning for the Store in alignment with H&M best practices.

Evaluate and manage the performance of Store Team members; implement dialogues, development plans, feedback, and follow-ups, taking necessary actions to enhance performance in support of business needs.

Ensure consistent and transparent communication with the Store team regarding Business Performance, Company Culture & Values, and Country/Sales Market/Area/Store objectives through daily Store Meetings and weekly/monthly Leadership Meetings.

Address health & safety, legal, and security matters in accordance with H&M standards and local regulations, ensuring the safety of employees and customers at all times.

Foster our Company Culture by promoting feedback in daily operations and coaching the Store Team to do the same.


Sales and Profit Accountability:
  • Accurate documentation of sales figures and hours.

Qualifications:
  • Inclusive, positive, creative, and open to new experiences.

  • Ability to lift over 20 pounds.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods, bend, stretch, engage in repetitive motions, push, pull, and carry items (e.g., mannequins, clothing, totes) over short distances.
  • Ability to climb ladders and use step stools.
  • Open availability, including evenings and weekends.
  • 2-3+ years of relevant experience in leading management-level employees is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to support other stores and attend meetings and training.

Job Status:
Salary, Non-Exempt (Exempt for Top Volume locations)
