About the role

As a wastewater treatment plant operator on nights, you will be a part of a 6-person team within the EHS department responsible for the continuous operation and upkeep of the wastewater treatment facility. You will perform various duties associated with daily operation of the plant to maintain efficient and reliable operation, as well as regulatory compliance. 

 


Depending on your knowledge of wastewater treatment, part of your role will be to gain 7 certifications in industrial wastewater treatment processes in the first 2 years of hire. These certifications are required to gain your certified operator status and associated pay increase. Reckitt will pay for all supplemental materials needed to gain these certifications, and a portion of time at work will be spent studying for these tests. 

 


Depending on your role, we offer two schedules. As a new operator, the typical schedule is four 10-hour shifts. Certified operators work 12-hour shifts, 7 days on 7 days off. As a certified operator, you will work alone for roughly no more than 50% of the time. No scheduled on-call periods.

 


Working within our team of experienced professionals in the wastewater industry will provide the right individual with valuable experience and reliable support. The maintenance teams within the entire site ensure that technical support is always readily accessible. Your responsibilities
  • Prioritize safe working conditions in the plant and speak up if something is unsafe. 
  • Compliant operation of the Industrial Wastewater Treatment system.
  • Adapt to changing inputs and adjust plant conditions to maintain efficient operation.
  • Perform assigned preventative maintenance activities on wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Complete various lab tests to verify compliance with regulatory agencies such as EGLE.
  • Apply mathematical concepts to accurately complete tests and apply chemical dosages.
  • Keep accurate records of plant conditions and test results.
  • Become a certified operator within 2 years of hire. 
The experience we're looking for
  • Associate degree in Environmental or associated field, or equivalent experience with State certification in a municipal or industrial wastewater treatment facility is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent will be considered with relevant experience.
  • Experience in working in unsupervised environments where independent thinking yields positive results. 
  • Experience making decisions in a timely manner that are well informed and thought out.

US salary ranges

No certification: USD $26.00 - $36.00

With certification: USD $31.00 - $41.00

US pay transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law.  In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
