Summary
Mortenson is currently seeking an Associate Environmental Specialist with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Associate Environmental Specialist will support Mortenson's environmental management efforts for Solar and Emerging Renewable projects throughout North America, providing review of environmental documentation, and advising on environmental matters in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures.
Implement and administer the environmental program at each work site.
- Support project management team in developing and executing site specific environmental plans and activities
- Participate in and contribute to project planning and environmental risk analysis
- Review environmental submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with subcontractors
- Monitor and review trade partner work plans and activities for environmental concerns
- Assist with implementation of policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all environmental regulations
- Coordinate and support environmental orientation and training programs
- Assist with onsite best management practices for environmental management
- Monitor implementation of environmental mitigation measures
- Conduct work site environmental inspections
- Monitor and record environmental data
- Document and report environmental violations, non-compliance conditions, etc.
- Assist with incident analysis and response
Provide resource of environmental related information
- Maintain operational knowledge of environmental issues in construction, US EPA, ASTM, and other applicable standards, regulations, laws, and procedures
- Ability to research environmental issues or concerns for all project team member
Other duties as assigned
- Interface with customer's environmental personnel, environmental consultants, regulatory representatives, insurance representatives, etc.
- Accompany environmental, health and safety, insurance, and regulatory personnel on work site tours
- Ensure maintenance and inspection of environmental equipment
Qualifications:
- Previous related internship experience a plus
- Current driver's license
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in geology, environmental management, environmental science, biology, or related field
