MAJOR FUNCTION
This role is pivotal in delivering environmental, health, and safety guidance, executing EHS initiatives and training, as well as planning and evaluating the EHS frameworks on-site. Reporting directly to the EHS Manager, this individual will be expected to operate autonomously or with minimal supervision to promote a secure, healthy, and incident-free workplace. Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to all environmental and safety regulatory standards. This position will also involve responding to emergencies as they occur and supporting all EHS functions to cultivate a safety-oriented culture and guarantee compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations.
- Maintain precise daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for reporting to the EHS manager and local management.
- Conduct risk assessments related to tasks performed by personnel and propose risk mitigation strategies.
- Advise and implement suitable risk reduction measures to management.
- Provide training and support to others (managers, employees, etc.) in completing their safety training.
- Lead toolbox talks and safety and environmental training sessions.
- Conduct environmental, health & safety (EHS) inspections, audits, & surveys throughout the facility to document compliance status.
- Deliver internal and external EHS sampling (monitoring) and analysis to supply data necessary for internal or external reporting & compliance.
- Investigate accidents/near misses and perform root cause analysis, offering resolution recommendations.
- Carry out periodic safety inspections, including fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, cranes, and hoists.
- Act as a responder for hazardous waste contamination and spill cleanup.
- Develop and implement training initiatives throughout the organization.
- Assist management in maintaining the Training Log.
EDUCATION:
- GED or High School Diploma required.
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as an EHS specialist or in a similar role.
- 3+ years of experience in training or teaching.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment performing similar tasks is preferred.
- 3+ years of auditing or risk mitigation experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- CPR/AED trained or willing to obtain certification.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and administrative skills are essential.
- Creative and innovative thinking abilities.
- Proficient in collecting and maintaining health, safety, and environmental data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple projects from initiation to completion.
- Ability to foster productive relationships with all levels of operations.
- The ideal candidate will possess an EHS-related certification and experience with ISO Management systems (9001, 14001, 45001).
- Experience managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areas.
- Hands-on safety oversight experience.
- Experience in developing and implementing health and safety plans and policies.
- Experience with emergency response teams in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases.
- Proficient in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
- Demonstrated attention to detail and a strong propensity for hands-on work in academic or career settings.
- Ability to multitask, manage shifting priorities, and follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations (29CFR1910).
- Experience in risk analysis techniques.
- Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be proficient in Office and SharePoint, and willing to learn other software systems as necessary.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred.
- ASP Certification preferred.
- DOT/IADA/DGT Training preferred.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
