Data Center Technician IIIJob Summary
Installs and troubleshoots fiber/copper circuits and performs rack and stack installations Applies acquired job skills to work on tasks that are semi-routine in nature. Supports the overall team and work independently. Daily interaction with customers on a regular basis through phone, on-site, or direct messages.
Responsibilities
Queue Management / Reporting
Reviews and prioritizes requests in the queue while ensuring adherence to all customer expected completion dates and commitment times
Maintains detailed written records and provide detailed audit reports of customer equipment
Updates local asset databases and other systems
Installations
Rack and stack customer equipment
Installs circuits requiring sophisticated fiber terminations with a fusion splicer
Installs telecom cabinet, fiber tray, and cage wired mesh for customers equipment and cabinets
Cross-Connect
Installs/tests/modifies cross connects per standard operating procedures and ensures proper cable management of: coax, fiber, twisted pair copper, and semi-routine intra-building cross connects
Supports semi-routine data center standard operating cross-connect work order requests (installs, terminations, modifications, and testing)
Installs 'across' connect circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.)
Testing / Troubleshooting
Troubleshoots fiber and copper circuits; and works with networking group, as needed
Works directly with customers to troubleshoot issues and supports semi-routine standard operating testing and standard operating installations of customer assets
Customer Management
Maintain regular interaction directly with customers through phone, on-site, or direct messages
Delivers a high level of service and an excellent customer experience when working with customers and fellow team members while properly raising customer issues and concerns to appropriate teams
Supports customers on-site by through access control and escorting services
Inventory and Shipment Management
Provide customer support for inbound and outbound customer shipments including inventory and staging
Qualifications
1+ years experience in a colocation environment preferred but not required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Possess excellent time management skills
Willing to work a Rotating Operating Night Shift of 12.5 hours
