We are seeking a highly motivated Board Eligible/Board Certified Neurologist with a preference for a general or headache trained neurologist with an interest in inpatient consultative and outpatient neurology care, with a full and unrestricted medical license from any state or territory, who shares our commitment to providing excellent care to our US Veterans. The Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center, located in Richmond, Virginia, is a level 1a 349-bed facility offering primary, secondary, and tertiary health care in medicine, surgery, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, intensive care, intermediate care, precision oncology, acute and sustaining spinal cord injury, polytrauma care, skilled nursing home care, and palliative care. The medical center has four community-based outpatient clinics located in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Emporia and Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and a strong and mutually beneficial affiliation with the Medical College of Virginia. Residency programs exist in virtually all general and specialty areas of medicine, rehabilitation, surgery, psychiatry, and dentistry.
Major Duties / Responsibilities
Provides a full range of general neurology services including assessment and using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care in outpatient and inpatient neurology care settings.
Teaching is an integral part of the work of a VA staff Neurologist. Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows is required.
Shares/rotates after hour and weekend home call responsibilities with other neurology physicians in the service.
Collaborates with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation.
Work will be a combination of on-site and remote telework as the needs of the service/division dictate based on space. Physicians are expected to be proficient in evaluation and management of patients both through in person and virtual telehealth visits.
Compensation / Benefits:
Richmond VA Medical is a fully accredited 349-bed acute medical and surgical care facility offering a wide range of comprehensive subspecialty services to our veterans to include organ transplantation.
Great work-life balance: Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 pm standard schedule with overnight and weekend coverage provided by teleradiology (back-up call required though rarely necessary)
Compensation $250-300K per year starting salary with up to $15K annual performance bonus and annual increase in wages based upon Cost-of-Living Allowance and longevity
Great medical and retirement benefits with up to 5% employer TSP matching & Federal Retirement Pension. Employees are vested after 5 years of full-time employment.
Currently, eligible for Employee Debt Reduction Federal Loan Payback up to $250K of student loans
Academic Association with Virginia Commonwealth University / Medical College of Virginia Radiology Residency Program with ample opportunities to be engaged in GME resident education on site.
Up to 55 days of paid time off per year (26 annual leave/11 Federal Holidays/13 sick days/ 5 CME).
Permanent position without physician employment contract, no significant restriction on moonlighting and provided Federal tort reform liability protection and malpractice tail coverage.
