Position Overview:

The Richmond VA Medical Center is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Headache Specialist Neurologist to enhance our team. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional care to our esteemed Veterans, requiring a Board Eligible/Board Certified Neurologist with specialized fellowship training in headache disorders.

Facility Information:

Located in Richmond, Virginia, our facility is a level 1a, 349-bed medical center providing comprehensive health services, including primary, secondary, and tertiary care across various specialties such as medicine, surgery, and neurology. We are proud to host one of the few national Headache Centers of Excellence, dedicated to improving the quality of life for Veteran patients suffering from complex headache disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a full spectrum of headache subspecialty neurology services, ensuring quality care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows as part of the role.
  • Participate in shared call responsibilities with fellow neurology physicians.
  • Collaborate effectively with midlevel providers and physician colleagues, maintaining clear communication and documentation.
  • Adapt to a combination of on-site and remote telework as required by service needs.

Compensation and Benefits:

The Department of Veteran Affairs offers a comprehensive rewards package, including:

  • Competitive salary ranging from $250,000 to $300,000 annually.
  • Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) offering up to $200,000 in student loan forgiveness.
  • Standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with limited on-call duties.
  • Generous leave policy, including up to 55 days of paid time off annually.
  • Annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.
  • Comprehensive medical and retirement benefits, including employer matching and federal retirement pension.
  • Academic affiliation with Virginia Commonwealth University, providing opportunities for involvement in graduate medical education.

Contractual Information:

This position does not require a physician employment contract and offers no significant restrictions on moonlighting, along with federal tort reform liability protection.
