Responsibilities include:

  • Negotiate costs, contracts, and policies with suppliers, representing the company's interests.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, and distributing materials, and supplies.
  • Interview, hire, and oversee staff training for purchasing department personnel.
  • Locate vendors, interview them, and prepare requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, raw materials, and equipment.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and monitor goods received, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
  • Resolve vendor grievances and claims against suppliers, ensuring smooth procurement processes.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Control purchasing department budgets and prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus materials and control obsolete inventory.


What you need to succeed:

  • Experience in sourcing metals and rubber, including critical and niche parts.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Willingness to engage in Tri-State travel, with approximately 25% travel expected, mostly day trips with occasional overnight stays.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or applicable experience.
