The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) is the collective spirit and unifying voice of our nation's Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs). AIHEC provides leadership and influences public policy on American Indian and Alaska Native higher education issues through advocacy, research, and programmatic initiatives; promotes and strengthens Indigenous languages, cultures, communities, lands, and tribal nations; and through its unique position, serves member institutions and emerging TCUs.


Career Summary

As a member of the executive team, the Vice President of Member Services & Accreditation will guide the strategic direction, management, and leadership of a diverse range of programs and activities for both Member and Student Services across all TCUs. The incumbent will spearhead operational planning, budgeting, assessment, and continuous improvement processes, while also playing a pivotal role in promoting diversity appreciation and fostering a shared governance environment through collaborative stakeholder engagement.


Essential Functions:

Work with the President & CEO and Boardto develop and implement a proactive agendafor Member and Student services sector.

Act as an advocate for TCU member and student services concerns/issues and as an agent in promoting positive institutional change.

Recommend policies and procedures to the President & CEO that will improve TCUs member and student services life, promote learning, and provide members and students with appropriate support system.

Advises and consults with other Vice Presidents to ensure collaborative and efficient practices are in place to serve members, students, faculty, and staff to fulfill the mission of AIHEC.

Oversees all areas of TCUs member and student services center, provides leadership for and oversight of the development, management, assessment, and quality improvement, including student recruitment, enrollment management, admissions, placement/testing, orientation, registration and records, financial aid, retention, career development, counselling, student activities and organizations.

Seek increased annual federal budget requests and appropriations for TCU Member and Student services programs and activities.

Develop service programs and activities that reach out to underrepresented groups and meet the diverse needs of the Member and student services across all TCUs.

Responsible for developing, executing and maintaining the Member and Student services budget.

Interpret and administer the Student Code of Conduct and recommend policies and procedures to the President & CEO to ensure that members and students are treated respectfully and equitably in all aspects of their TCU experience.

Systematically assess member and student support services using student learning outcomes and other appropriate measures to improve the effectiveness of these services.

Provides supervision and counsel regarding student activities, the student Government Association, and other related functions.


Required Education, Experience and Attributes (minimum requirements):

Bachelor's Degree in higher education administration or a related field from an accredited college or university required with an exceptional combination of relevant experiences.

10 years of progressively responsible member and student services leadership experience, adult education or higher education administration experience including seven (7) years of management oversight and supervisory experience required

Minimum 5 years of management, oversight and supervisory experience, including ability to manage people, programs, and projects required.

Proven track record of leading, influencing, and managing a team and stakeholders through change and growth.

A successful record of administration including planning, resource and personnel management, student information systems, and program development required.

Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of American Indian/Alaskan Native issues.

Demonstrated experience integrating student affairs and academic affairs functions to support member and student services success is required.

Excellent oral, written and presentation skills and the ability to communicate with transparency and clarity required.

A demonstrated ability to collaboratively and sensitively work with people with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds as well as those with disabilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Supervisory

Oversees and provides overall strategic direction, management and leadership in the administration of a comprehensive range of programs and activities for member and student services.


Work Location

This position is a hybrid role, approved for telework with bi-annual commitments in the Washington, DC region for legislative summit and staff meetings.
