Description:

Camp Red Cedar boasts 57 acres of woods, meadows, trails, a 10-acre lake and sandy beach.  Each year the camp serves hundreds of kids through our summer camps, riding programs, horse shows and rentals.

Camp Red Cedar’s mission is to encourage children and adults with disabilities to move beyond their boundaries through recreational activities, outdoor education, creative arts and interaction with horses, in an integrated environment, serving people of all abilities.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Executive Director is responsible for leading and shaping the organizational culture and promote transparency and collaboration throughout Camp Red Cedar. Establish and maintain strong relationships with peers, key stakeholders, the media, community organizations, industry associations, and local groups. Strategically manage the fundraising efforts as adopted by the CEO and Board of Directors. This includes the major responsibility of coordinating, planning, and executing the Annual Fund Campaign and all special events related to fundraising for Camp Red Cedar.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor operations and ensure employees and business practices comply with regulatory and legal requirements.
  2. Develop and train a talented team of employees who can implement and manage Camp Red Cedar programs.
  3. Develops and implements fundraising plans, programs, and campaign initiatives to build, expand and strengthen Camp Red Cedar’s current base of philanthropic support.
  4. Provide financial management and oversight of finances including; budget management, billing, expenditures, etc.
  5. Responsible for the promotion of Camp Red Cedar programmatically and philanthropically via social media accounts and website, arranging media opportunities, tours, outreach opportunities, public speaking, joining local organizations for networking, etc.
  6. Oversee the Lodge Coordinator and Lodge rentals.
  7. Educates Camp Red Cedar’s constituencies about development and fund-raising activities.
  8. Identifies major gift prospects and coordinates cultivation and solicitation efforts with CEO and Board of Directors.
  9. Creates a Case for Giving that connects the heart of the donor with the core Camp Red Cedar mission—finding the stories and telling them.
  10. Creates and implements a Strategic Plan for Camp Red Cedar and an Annual Fund Development Plan. Evaluates yearly performance and adjusts goals and strategies as necessary for the following year.
  11. Recruits, manages, monitors timelines, and oversees volunteer activity for all special events related to the Annual Fund.
  12. Acknowledges and recognizes all donors. Coordinate donation acknowledgment process, including generating gift receipts and assigning and assisting with thank you calls and notes to donors
  13. Maintain accurate and complete contact records in our donor database, including ongoing updating, cleaning, and organizing of data for optimal utilization.
  14. Download, format, and code monthly reports from donation processing sites for our bookkeeping and accounting staff.
  15. Meets specific dollar and participation goals.
  16. Creates and distributes regular updates on the performance of the Annual Fund to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Camp Red Cedar Committee.
  17. Participates in the promotion of The Lodge at Camp Red Cedar by assisting with tours, etc.
  18. Report any suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation immediately to supervisor or department head

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Experience with gift processing and donor databases.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), ideally with prior experience managing accounts for groups or organizations.
  3. Knowledge of the concepts of community-centric fundraising and possesses a broad knowledge of fund-raising principles and successful development programs.
  4. Ability to create graphics and ability to create compelling content in design programs like Canva.
  5. Demonstrates ability to develop strategies to achieve goals, understands Camp Red Cedar’s strengths, challenges, and capacities; adapts strategies to changing conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on leadership, not-for- profit experience, business, telecommunications, public administration, etc.
  2. Development and philanthropic experience

  4. Maintain CPR, 1st Aid and Mandt certifications
