WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Payment Processing Specialist in our Chicago, Illinois location.

Job Summary

Provide payment processing services to 6 of the WEC Energy Group utilities, while maximizing each business unit’s cash flow. Specializes in exception processing and research requiring trouble shooting all non-posted payments resulting in accurate and timely posting.

Job Responsibilities

Retrieve Pre-note and Automatic Payment Plan file reports for 6 utilities and update US Bank Portal. Also retrieve financial returns not processed by the robotic processing automation and any notification of bank changes requiring updates to customer accounts.

  • Complete returned payments and disputes for various sources.
  • Update billing system with automatic payment plan enrollment.
  • Retrieve payment files from vendor web-sites and modify detail for posting.
  • Investigate out of balances between billing system and treasury/finance.
  • Process mail payments, customer initiated ACH payments, unposted payments, gift certificates, housing and agency payments within service level agreements.
  • Timely response and completion of customer inquiries and work items.
  • Work with an outsourced vendor portal to mail payments for posting.
  • Provide unprocessed payments and detail for escheatment to State.
  • Complete audit requests.
  • Scan physical checks and images to bank for deposit.
  • Issue refund checks when applicable.
  • Mail sorting.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, HSED, or GED
  • 3+ Years - Experience using Microsoft office products (Excel, Word etc.) and related computer systems.
  • 3+ Years – Providing payment processing services and support to customers.
  • 3+ Years – processing accounts receivables and applying customer payments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years - Experience with OpenC
