Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator

Description: We are currently seeking an individual with a strong background in Database Administration to support web and desktop applications for a large enterprise. This position involves:
- Implementing and maintaining scheduled jobs to ensure optimal performance and integrity of the database systems
- Adhering to established Configuration Management processes and procedures for system change management
- Upgrading Microsoft SQL Server instances to latest versions
- Patching Microsoft SQL Server instances
- Managing database security
- Controlling access permissions and privileges
- Setting up and administering enterprise scale Windows servers
- Optimizing Windows applications
- Developing and maintaining Continuity of Operations documents and materials
- Building new server instances
- Promoting applications and data from development, to test, to production environments
- Monitoring and tuning database performance
- Working with Software Developers to ensure SQL queries run efficiently
- Providing technical consultation to Program Managers, Software Developers, Air Force Management, and other customers
- Performing trend analysis on system performance
- Recommending configuration changes
- Participating in planning activities to schedule system upgrades
- Applying Security Template Implementation Guides (STIGs) as appropriate
Required Experience and Skills:
- CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft Server operating systems
- Strong experience in developing, maintaining and deploying complex SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages
- Experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) architectures
- Experience with VM Ware and other virtual environments
- Understanding of SQL Server replication, clustering, and mirroring
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Must have an active Secret security clearance
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Familiarity with the U.S. Air Force Configurations for Windows
- Experience working with the U.S. Air Force as a civilian, contractor, or service member
- Release Management experience
- Windows Server Administration
- Visual Studio
- Security Template Implementation Guide (STIG) experience
- Internet Information Services (IIS) administration experience
Hours:
- Full Time (average 40 hours per week)
- Flexible hours between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday
