JOB SUMMARY

The HR Generalist will assist in various functions within the human resources department including employee relations, benefits administration, new hire orientation, training, recruitment, performance management, HRIS, and other projects as assigned. This individual will work closely with both the U.S. and Canadian HR teams and will learn and develop throughout most functional areas within human resources. This position is based our of Denver or Midland.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Employee relations, performance management
  • Creates and administers disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans
  • Assists HR Director in investigations or complex legal issues
  • Talent acquisition and full life cycle recruitment as needed
  • Conduct new hire orientations and assist with onboarding
  • Plan Administrator over benefit programs; enrolls new employees in benefits, processes status changes, works closely with vendors and insurance broker, manages open enrollment process
  • Reconcile benefits including medical, dental, vision, etc.
  • Ensure fair and consistent practices within the organization
  • Build relationships with department leaders, provide advice and guidance on HR matters
  • Process FMLA and other leaves of absence, short-term disability claims
  • Acts as an employee advocate while ensuring business needs are met
  • Partner with internal and external legal counsel on employment matters (Employers Council)
  • Keep up to date on changing laws, regulations, and best practices in human resources
  • Assist HR Director with policy administration, HR projects and initiatives, reporting, updating handbook
  • Compliance with quality and safety management requirements
  • Assists in creating and conducting trainings including the annual HR Refresher
  • Conducts exit interviews, check ins or “stay interviews” with current employees
  • Assist in employee engagement and other HR initiatives
  • May attend professional development trainings
  • Cross train with Canadian HR department
  • Other duties and projects as required


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in HR, construction or oil & gas industry preferred
  • Recruiting & benefits administration experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Always approachable and professional in approach
  • Able to keep several projects/tasks moving forward at once; nothing slips through the cracks
  • Capable of working in an unsupervised environment; proactive; doesn't wait for instruction
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to change
  • A commitment to excellence
