Technical Delivery Manager (Data) | Contract-to-hire | Hybrid: Ann Arbor, Michigan

A Technical Delivery Manager (Data) will provide project and solution design leadership by leveraging a technically focused base of previous experiences. This position is responsible for planning, leading, and delivering complex Information Technology projects on time, within budget, and with high quality. The Technical Delivery Manager drives the collaboration with technology and business stakeholders, cross functional teams, and vendors to ensure that all project participants are effectively communicating and executing tasks as specified in the project plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing multiple concurrent IT projects of high complexity.
  • Responsible for defining and gaining consensus on project scope and objectives, creating project work plans, facilitating scrum and status meetings, and ensuring continuous alignment across the project team members and leaders.
  • Identifies and manages project risks, assumptions, issues, decisions, dependencies, and change requests; leads mitigation and resolution efforts to limit risks, escalates as needed.
  • Monitors project metrics for significant deviations in quality, cost, or schedule.
  • Manages communications and reports project status on a regular basis; acts as translator between business and technical community interpreting data domain needs.
  • Works with architects to design business solutions by applying the right technology; and works with project team to document business processes and requirements that can be used for development, as appropriate.
  • Provides thought leadership to deliver creative and efficient technical solutions and data quality practices, including screen design and specifications, data modeling, and documentation of logical processing flows.
  • Supports QA Practice to ensure quality of release capabilities; contributes to and reviews the Master Test Strategy; assists in manual testing of features as well as SQL data investigation of large and complex data sets.
  • Experienced working on data-related projects.
  • Experienced working with cloud technologies.
  • Based on the person that was in the role - data background, technical delivery role so its cloud/data background and knowledge.
  • Participates in Master Data Management and Governance processes implementing DQ checks on required data domains.
  • Oversees client/customer/vendor relations to ensure that service expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Assists in establishing, enabling, and improving project management and software development methodologies, procedures, and policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, business administration, or related field with at least 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years experience leading large-scale system implementation efforts using a standard software development lifecycle approach.
  • Enterprise level Data Warehouse experience with SQL Server.
  • Strong project management, leadership, and organization skills (scrum certification desired).
  • Knowledge of common Project Management and Software Development Methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, DevOps) and understands the strengths and weaknesses of each methodology.
  • Has foundational experience playing a contributing role in full cycle software delivery as a business analyst, developer, or quality expert (previous development experience preferred).
  • Understands and can lead / participate in solutions design.
  • Experience with business and technical requirements analysis, data modeling/mapping, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a fast-paced rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent organization and relationship building skills.
  • Candidate must be thorough and detail-oriented.
  • Experience working with technology vendors.
