About the Role:
Job Summary
Supervises shift, coordinates, performs duties and activities as required to meet changing hospital needs. Assures that staffing levels are adequate and all training requirements are carried out, evaluating complaints motivating employees, and leading by example. Exhibit and teach a positive approach to Customer Relations.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Valid GA Drivers License. BLS Certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience: Minimum of two (2) years as healthcare security officer or equivalent, supervisory experience and/or training completed.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Ensures that employees assigned to the Security Department maintain policies, procedures, and regulations of the department and the institution. Informs subordinates and Coordinator of all facets of departmental operations on a daily basis either verbally or in writing.
Schedules employees to ensure sufficient coverage of the department and its duties/functions. This is also to include vacation and leave time.
Maintains appropriate employee personnel records for the purpose of conducting performance evaluations.
Conducts on the job training for security officers. Educates officers on new policies, procedures, equipment or techniques. Assures that each officer completes weekly or monthly training program in a timely manner. Assures that each new officer has completed all items on orientation checklist in a timely manner. Assists with ongoing training programs for departmental personnel. This includes, but not limited to self defense, de-escalation and investigative procedures. Demonstrates the proper knowledge of subject matter when participating in training programs. Responds as backup officer to give support and instruction to officers. (Is always available to assist officer as needed or to answer any questions). Networks to be able to use peer group as a resource for problem solving.
Receives a minimum score of 80% with a .38 caliber sidearm certification in accordance with departmental policy. Weapon is maintained in a clean and operational manner and is of the type specified by departmental policy. Weapon is loaded with hospital issued .38 caliber ammunition.
Professional or manufacturer certification has been obtained for all use of force options and equipment in use. Documented proof of same has been presented.
Proves to be a good example to all officers.
Keeps updated as policy/procedures, laws, tactics, safety training, such as hazard communications, radiation spills, etc., and use of force options change and educates officers of these changes.
Assures that all officers are performing duties as required. Recognizes weaknesses and recommends accurate training to correct.
Makes frequent rounds of grounds and facility.
Gathers information to be used in forming policies, assessing security needs and making recommendations on security programs and reporting back to the coordinator as directed.
Maintains visibility and accessibility in order to act on request from all hospital publics.
Performs other assignments as needed.
Anticipated personal protective equipment for job performance: Handcuffs. ASP Baton. Tactical elbow and knee pads and padded foam shields. Safety glasses, face shields. Reflective vest and gloves. latex gloves, masks, protective clothing.
N95 face mask. Powered air purifying respirator (PAPR). Body armor.
