Position Summary: The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations, manage the accounting staff, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.Work-In-Progress (WIP) Accounting:
Manage WIP schedules, tracking project costs, billings, and revenue recognition. Review and analyze WIP reports for accuracy and completeness. Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets and forecasts. Ensure compliance with revenue recognition policies and guidelines.Staff Management:
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed. Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development. Coordinate work assignments to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor budget vs. actual performance and provide variance analysis. Support strategic planning and decision-making processes with financial insights.Audit and Compliance:
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and reviews. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings. Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit readiness.Systems and Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices. Manage and enhance accounting software and systems to increase efficiency. Lead or participate in special projects as assigned.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Proven experience with WIP accounting and project cost tracking. Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
