Position Summary   

Primary supervision of pre-doctoral psychology interns, psychology practicum students, and pre-licensure Psychology Degree’s (PhD’s/PsyD’s) located in Pacific Clinics. The supervisory tasks may involve travelling to the various sites as determined by the Director of Psychology Training. Actively participates in the Psychology Training Committee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities   

In collaboration with the site direction, will provide weekly individual and group supervision to psychology interns/practicum students and/or pre-licensed PhD’s/PsyD’s addressing clinical issues and monitoring progress notes, Billable Services (BS), according to Quality Improvement and Compliance and Department of Mental Health requirements. Conducts ongoing performance reviews and the requisite training documentation for interns from their respective graduate programs. Assists Director of Psychology Training in co-leading and facilitating periodic supervision forums on core clinical issues in treatment including diversity training, supervision of clinical supervision, case conceptualization and related clinical supervision functions. Provides supervision of pre-licensure PhD’s/PsyD requiring license hours. Completes all paperwork required of qualified supervisors for the California Board of Psychology (BOP), including documentation of group and individual supervision sessions Complies with Pacific Clinics policies and procedures regarding the delivery of clinical supervision.  Provides consultation and hands-on interventions for clinicians needing help with difficult cases, as needed. Completes special clinical and other projects and assignments as deemed appropriate and necessary by the Director of Psychology and/or Executive Management. Including composites of student evaluations of supervision and training, APA self-study, internship and practicum interviews. Coordinates practicum student placements including outreach with schools, interviewing of supervisors and potential students to match placements. Conducts supervision courses. Supervises the Psychological Clinical Supervisor – Assessment as needed. Mentors new clinical supervisors as assigned. Attends and participates in staff meetings to provide input towards program development and staff training. Interacts with other internal programs, clinical/support staff and external sources such as school or community personnel as applicable. Ensures the timely submission of all performance appraisals, new hire and termination paperwork and other employee status changes including informing the Human Resources Department of employee leaves, work-related injuries and employee incidents. Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance. Models Pacific Clinics’ approach, mission and core values in all communication and correspondence. Communicates effectively in a culturally competent and diverse consumer population and promotes favorable interaction with managers, co-workers and others. Performs other duties as assigned. 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/INTERACTION:  

Supervise employees and perform supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the Clinics’ policies, procedures and practices. Initiate and maintain professional interactions and communication with Clinics’ employees and/or others. Position works as part of a multidisciplinary team and interacts with all levels of organizational staff and management; outside auditors and/or Agency vendors.

Communication – Effectively and consistently communicates contract and compliance directives to staff. Encourages interactive discussions and maintains an open-door policy. Ensures that all staff within the program are properly educated and informed about matters relating to the Agency, program, and division. Relationships and Attitude – Models professionalism by maintaining effective working relationships, following all policies and procedures and approaching challenges with a proactive and positive attitude. Also develops strong, trusted relationships with colleagues and customers. Attendance –Models good attendance by adhering to their regular work schedule and at times working additional or varied hours to accommodate workflow.  Problem Solving – Ability to analyze problems and implement acceptable solutions. Confidentiality - Maintains the confidentiality of all business documents and correspondence

Experience / Requirements   

Licensed /, with five () to ten () years of experience in community mental health providing full range of mental health services to children and adults. Ability to train staff. Ability to develop, manage and implement license specific training materials. Ability to develop relationships within the agency and other community agencies. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of, and ability to work competently with a diverse workforce and student population is essential. Excellent ability to work in Windows environment (including Word and Excel). Must promote efficient and effective communication with Clinics’ management, staff and third parties. Must possess a valid California driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record under the Clinics’ liability policy.

Physical Requirements 

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand or sit. The employee is required to use hands to produce records and/or documentation in manual or electronic format. The employee must possess ability to ensure significant communication with the Clinics’ community members. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to pounds and occasionally move or lift up to pounds.
