Description

We're looking for someone new to join our Public Works team as a Full-Time Maintenance Worker. In this role, we will provide you with all the training you need in order to perform a variety of maintenance activities pertaining to Public Works operations and services. You’ll be responsible for a variety of tasks such as construction, maintenance and repair of city right of way and infrastructure, storm drains, sign installation, snow removal and more You'll play a key role in influencing and enhancing services to our citizens and truly make a difference in this community. No experience is required for this position, though we do still encourage experienced candidates to apply and will take experience into consideration when evaluating starting salary.

Essential Functions

  • Perform construction and maintenance activities in the street division. Participate in the construction and maintenance of streets including patching of potholes and assisting with street repairs; Install traffic control; participate with pavement marking; Install street signs; sweep streets;
  • Operate a variety of equipment including dump trucks, mowing tractors, street sweeper, front end loaders, skid steers, track hoe, snow removal equipment, asphalt rollers, and a variety of hand tools
  • Perform activities involving the repair of storm water mains and structures; Participate with trenching and backfilling.
  • Clean and maintain assigned vehicles, tools and equipment.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal from city streets by plowing and spreading salt; operate other snow removal equipment as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • No experience required. 
    • Some experience performing public works maintenance is desirable.
  • Equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • Ability to obtain, valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with air brake. (ALL training and license expenses are fully paid for by the City)
