As a land-grant university CSU, emphasizes the importance of access to education by supporting a vibrant, diverse, and robust scholarship program. The Associate Director of Scholarship Stewardship will help support the success of the scholarship program by enhancing both the donor and recipient experiences.
The position aims to enhance the scholarship recipient experience by fostering community and connection to philanthropy while ensuring compliance with FERPA regulations and CSUs stewardship philosophy. It involves building relationships with campus partners to maintain and improve scholarship-related communications and resources. Additionally, the role focuses on connecting donors to the impact of their giving through centralized stewardship efforts, donor engagement initiatives, and support for fundraising activities. As a result of elevating the scholarship donor experience, through timely and relevant touchpoints, this position will grow donor pipelines, improve resources to aid college and unit development teams, and ensure compliance with University and federal scholarship directives.

This position will infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of their work in order to contribute to ensuring donors of all backgrounds feel represented and included. Required Job Qualifications Five years of experience in donor relations and stewardship, scholarship administration, student-related programming, fundraising, or related areas of grant or award administration. Bachelors degree obtained from an accredited university by position start date. Demonstrated ability to engage and effectively communicate with diverse audiences. Ability to work non-standard hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Must have a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain a drivers license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date. Preferred Job Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills, adept at tailoring messages for both broad audiences and individual stakeholders. Demonstrated experience with scholarship stewardship and administration in a higher education setting Proficiency with using data/databases and multiple sources of information to build processes and systems Demonstrated understanding of both the donor experience and the scholarship recipient experience Proficiency in facilitating collaboration among diverse stakeholder groups, each with distinct yet interconnected needs. Essential Duties Job Duty Category Scholarship Recipient/ Student Experience Support Duty/Responsibility Successfully balances the upholding of FERPA compliance, the student experience, and CSUs scholarship stewardship philosophy. Cultivates productive relationships with the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of General Council, the CSU Foundation, college/unit scholarship coordinators, and college/unit development teams. Maintains and evolves the scholarship recipient webpage, including the development of additional resources for students. Works with OFA and College/Unit Scholarship Coordinators to update application/selection language/communications annually. Manages stewardship participation requests to recipients in a way that that positively fosters participation. Answers questions from recipients regarding scholarship stewardship opportunities and participation. Explores a potential scholarship ambassador program, in which recipients would lend UA their stories of gratitude and impact. Explores possible scholarship recipient events to create a stronger sense of community, belonging and connection to philanthropy Examines communications with a lens of diversity and inclusion for the audience, ensuring that they welcome guests from all backgrounds and are representative of various identities. Centralizes the scholarship stewardee notification process and the creation of scholarship recipient bios. Supports Tier A scholarship endowment donor custom impact pieces Builds and implements the centralization of the scholarship stewardess notification process Maintains and evolves the scholarship donor resource webpage, including the development of additional resources for donors Creates and executes a scholarship donor welcome kit and distribution plan Creates and executes annual scholarship donor survey and distribution plan Creates and manages various ways for scholarship donors to engage with recipients, that flips the script such as a scholarship donor note-writing campaigns to recipients Researches and explores a donor ambassador program in order to increase recipients understanding of donors and philanthropy Partners with CSUF on fund audits to evaluate stewardship promises and other commitments outlined in fund agreements, in addition to developing best practices for fulfilling such promises/commitments. Supports evolving conversations about donor involvement in scholarship recipient selection Provides recommendations for scholarship event best practices Examine how communications and processes can be more inclusive and representative of a diverse range of partners and donors.
