Summary 

This position requires an understanding of revenue accounting and ability to function in a fast paced deadline driven environment. This role is responsible for account reconciliations, including research and understanding of the account activity, learning and understanding all aspects of the revenue cycle with in The IIA to effectively participate in month end closing by preparing required schedules and journal entries. This team strives to cross train and support each other in meeting deadlines, hence the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively is very important. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Work with Large and Complex Data Sets: This involves handling and analyzing extensive and intricate financial data to support revenue recognition journal entries. This task may require proficiency in data analysis tools and software.Prepare Journal Entries: Accurately and promptly record financial transactions in the company's accounting system. Complex Account Reconciliations: Reconcile accounts, such as cash, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue.Daily Cash Reconciliation. Reconcile cash daily and prepare cash forecasts for multiple bank accounts.Provide Accounting Support: Be well-versed in department policies and systems to answer accounting-related questions from colleagues in various departments and at all organizational levels.Ensure Revenue Recognition Compliance: Ensure that revenue recognition follows appropriate accounting principles, standards, and timelines. Resolve Unprecedented Issues: Proactively Identify, research, and resolve complex and unusual accounting issues that may arise during financial operations. Assist in Policy Creation: Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures related to accounting and financial operations. Prepare Audit Work Papers: Develop and prepare schedules and work papers that external and internal auditors may request during financial audits. Special Projects and Ad-Hoc Reporting: Assist the Revenue Manager with special projects and provide ad-hoc reports as needed. Document and Update Processes: Maintain documentation of accounts receivable and revenue processes and procedures. Collaborate with Team: Coordinate tasks and work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the efficient and timely completion of financial tasks. Teamwork is crucial for maintaining a smooth workflow.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

No direct supervisory responsibilities. 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience 

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent, three-five years accounting experience, ability to maintain confidential information essential.

Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting. One-two years of audit experience. Hands on experience in NetSuite. Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel abilities. Preparing daily and monthly cash reconciliations as well as cash forecasting.

Language Skills 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Multiple language ability is an asset in any role with The IIA.

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to problem solve in situations involving several variables.

Computer Skills 

Knowledge of accounting software and excel spreadsheets required. Must be able to work in a computerized environment using Microsoft Office products.
