Job Description
General Description
The Upward Bound Program is a Federally Funded program designed to identify qualified low-income potential first-generation college students and generate the skills/motivation necessary for success in completing secondary/post-secondary education. The program provides personal, academic, career/vocational individual and group counseling; workshops/seminars; participant follow-up and tracking.
The Curriculum Coordinator/Counselor, under the supervision of the Project Director will be responsible for:
Maintaining participant's academic records; Assessing student's academic needs; Providing academic advisement/study skills workshops; Coordinating all curriculum program activities along with the Project Director; Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties
Curriculum Coordinator/Counselor are required to work on Saturdays during the 21 week academic program and assist Project Director in any additional task required during the academic and summer program.
This position starts on October 1, 2024.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (M.A. preferred); Two years experience working with disadvantaged youth; Familiar with Bronx target school area; Ability to communicate effectively; Demonstrate familiarity with high school grade requirement for college admission; Knowledge and understanding of proper grammaticial format/usage to write clear and concise narrative reports; Knowledge of financial aid and college admission procedures; Quality of integrity, dignity and cordiality; Ability to administer and interpret diagnostic exams; Knowledge of virtual and social media platforms.
