This position coordinates testing accommodations for students with disabilities on all BCTC campuses. This includes hiring, training, and supervising proctors for daytime, evening, and weekend exams, creating and maintaining testing files and security, and delivers exams, overseeing the conversion of tests into alternate formats and provision of auxiliary aids (reader, scribe, assistive technology) as needed. This position sends written notification of accommodations to faculty and communicates with faculty regarding disability issues and testing accommodation needs in accordance with the requirements under ADA.
Job Duties:
1. Schedules, proctors, administers and delivers exams
2. Reads or scribes for students as needed
3. Convert tests into alternate formats as necessary
4. Provides technical assistance to students
5. Maintains filing system to store exams securely
6. Notifies faculty of students with disabilities and their accommodations
7. Convert handouts, syllabi, etc., into alternate formats as needed
8. Assists with the conversion of textbooks into an alternate format
9. Hires, trains, and supervises test proctors
10. Serves as a resource to students, staff, and faculty
11. Monitors and maintains equipment and software
12. Provide data and reports as requested
13. Assist with entering and documenting student accommodation
14. Participates in staff meetings, college meetings, committee meetings, and professional organizational meetings
15. Stays current on disability issues
16. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (related field) or equivalent and 4 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Six years of related experience.
Additional Skills Requested:
• Knowledge of assistive technology for people with disabilities
• Knowledge of Section of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of and the Americans with Disabilities Act
• Knowledge of disability law/compliance in a postsecondary environment
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations
