Lead Oncology Social Worker Opportunity, Danbury, CT

The Lead Oncology Social Work, East will play a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring the oncology social work staff on the East. They will develop the onboarding process and competencies for new and current staff. They will assist with annual goals and reviews as well as work closely with the Regional Director to help bring Network goals to fruition such as working with their counterpart in the West to streamline operation workflows. They will be involved with and guide the relationships with partnered organizations such as American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Alliance, Pink Aid and Ann’s Place. They will guide and assist the team in applying for grants and maintaining that process efficiently. They will represent the social work team at Cancer Committee and be representative of the East social work team on all accreditation teams and applicable projects. ;Besides leadership responsibilities the Lead is required to provide clinical services within the Nuvance Cancer institute, at their respective location.,

Responsibilities:

1. Leads and support social workers within the cancer institute to comply with regulatory bodies, to assist the program in attaining its major goals and to help the network execute on its mission;2. Develops and implement all educational competencies and educational programs and provides resources and support to the oncology social workers across the network.;3. Provides mentorship to newer staff social workers by creating and managing an orientation and training plan for new staff; Assists with onboarding of new staff;4. Provides guidance to the Financial Toxicity Conference held monthly across the network to assess patients’ financial toxicity;5. Oversees grants and applicable yearly annual reports, and related organizational reports by tracking any applicable data and providing additional insight.;6. Works closely with the Quality Department to execute on network patient related quality improvement projects and programs;7. Acts as a liaison between the community health and social service agencies and as a clinical liaison between medical oncology and other departments of the hospital;8. Participates in the development and formulation of policies initiated within the department and is responsible for the facilitation and implementation of procedures to achieve these goals;9. Reviews that all major facets of the treatment process are in the medical record within appropriate time frames and documented properly;10. Provides clinical services to patients and their caregivers and maintains the ability to interact with patients, families and co-workers for the purpose of fostering a therapeutic relationship with patients.,
