Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) is seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as Vice President of Building Management. AWE supports operating non-profits founded by Alice Walton including the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, Art Bridges, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Momentary, and Heartland Whole Health Institute.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The VP of Building Management oversees and manages all operations and maintenance for buildings and their systems across multiple campuses and properties. This position requires a high degree of understanding in utilities infrastructure, engineering and architecture, energy efficiency, and operational budgeting. The VP of Building Management acts as an expert in recognizing deficiencies and providing the solutions to correct them.

The VP of Building Management plays a vital role in mentoring teams and provides active support and collaboration with the Construction & Grounds Divisions within the Department. This individual will develop strategies to build teams that are pro-active, efficient, and well-trained professionals. It is imperative that this individual can communicate effectively and professionally with contractors, stakeholders, and other contributing cohorts of every level.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reports to the President of Campus Planning & Property Management and acts as a liaison between clients, staff, and other cohorts. Can abide in project, property, and client confidentiality. Displays effective leadership skills with the ability to collaborate, communicate, delegate, prioritize, and is comfortable with conflict resolution. Provide accurate and up-to-date information, data, and materials for board presentations, stakeholder updates, and other high-level assignations. Direct a skilled team and provide mentorship and growth opportunities. Develop standards, policies and procedures for the facilities team and ensure staff compliance. Communication and mediation with insurance companies and fire marshal.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee the development and implementation of preventative maintenance schedules, as well as other duties assigned by the President of Campus Planning and Property Management.  Provide critical leadership in the event of any natural or man-made disasters impacting buildings. Oversee assigned departmental operating budget and related capital budget.  Identify on-going capital improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR YOUR SUCCESS:

Applicant should possess a combination of education, training, financial savvy, and experience to ensure ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described. College degree in a related field. Minimum of 10 years’ relevant management experience working on an executive team. Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business. Enthusiasm about being a member of a team supporting a wide variety of properties. Proven ability to manage and build high performing teams. Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering drawings, architecture, engineering, and design principles, building systems and applicable building codes. Strong computer skills (MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, Procore, Bluebeam Revu) Honest, reliable, self-aware, and conscientious.

Work environment: Work will be performed in an office environment full-time (Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.) The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings, may be necessary to support operational needs.
