Job Description

Prevailing Wage Specialist

This role involves ensuring strict compliance with federal and state labor laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on multi-state labor compliance, specifically under prevailing wage regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain adherence to federal, state, and local labor regulations, focusing on labor compliance and payroll accuracy. Manage comprehensive payroll records for all construction projects, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation. Utilize software tools for precise labor compliance tracking and reporting. Assist with the coordination and performance of duties that ensure construction projects operate in compliance with state and federal regulations, including but not limited to prevailing wages and labor laws. Monitor project and contract status; ensure contractors and prevailing wages are assigned to projects correctly. Build and maintain relationships with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless payroll operations. Oversee the preparation and timely submission of certified payroll reports. Collaborate with auditors during compliance reviews and investigations, providing necessary documentation and insights. Stay updated on changes in labor laws to adapt processes and ensure ongoing compliance.

Skills, Experience, and Knowledge Required:

Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5-10 years in labor compliance and payroll, specifically within the construction or related industry. Extensive experience with labor compliance systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in prevailing wage regulations. With an emphasis on Davis Bacon, CA DIR Public Works, OR BOLI. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

The Prevailing Wage Specialist must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s). The Prevailing Wage Specialistmust promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners. The Prevailing Wage Specialist must have proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s). The Prevailing Wage Specialist Must be able to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. The Prevailing Wage Specialist must be able to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. The Prevailing Wage Specialist must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. The Prevailing Wage Specialist must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.

Qualifications

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.Associate’ degree or two years’ experience analysis or related field preferred.High proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP-ups, sum functions, and charts.Degree/ Certification in Payroll, Accounting, or related field.Construction industry experience preferred.Multi-State experience with emphasis on California Wage & Hour regulations preferred.Must have strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.Must meet Company minimum driving standards.Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
