Education / Certifications:  Bachelor’s degree in polymer science, material science, or chemical engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience: 

  • Four to ten years of working in a mono / coex film extrusion, material science, product development, or technical service role.
  • Ability to design and execute trials on both pilot and production equipment; research of raw materials and potential vendors and development of in-line and off-line property testing, establishing process metrics to provide consistent product properties.
  • Demonstrated success in the development of polymer-based products to meet specific end use needs

 

Job Summary: Develop and implement material formulations, products and processes for blown and/or cast extruded films primarily for healthcare and food industries.


Job Duties:

  • Define, research, and develop new products and materials for identifying existing and new business opportunities.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals (project plan), with a particular emphasis on customer/market CTQ (Critical to Quality) attributes and specifications.
  • Ability to apply a variety of polymer characterization techniques, interpret lab test results
  • Fully develop assigned projects from concept through commercialization, establishing customer/market requirements and ensuring processes are consistent with robust manufacturing.
  • Conduct trials and testing as required using both internal and external resources
  • Research and develop new material applications and solutions for existing and new business
  • Develop and optimize process(es) and process conditions for new or existing products
  • Assist and/or conduct trouble shooting, root-cause analysis for extrusion, conversion, product / quality enhancement.
  • Be part of innovation team, conceive develop and implement new idea.
  • Provide regular project updates to project team and management as determined via the project plan.
  • Attend customer trials as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in polymer science, material science, or chemical engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four to ten years of working in a mono / coex film extrusion, material science, product development, or technical service role
  • Ability to design and execute trials on both pilot and production equipment; research of raw materials and potential vendors and development of in-line and off-line property testing, establishing process metrics to provide consistent product properties

  • Ability to understand lab test results and correlate to material performance/properties
  • Ability to travel as required to support assigned projects
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exceptional attention to detail and good follow-up skills
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with employees, customers and vendors
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Skilled in continuous improvement with an innovation mindset
  • Willingness to work as team member or independently as necessary
