Sr. Database Developer - Onsite- Norfolk, VA

Position Responsibilities

·         Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

·         Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

·         Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS technologies.

·         Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

·         Support our hosted applications on existing technology infrastructure and to help develop the strategy for our next generation efforts.

·         Manage and maintain the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of any SQL related software and hardware.

·         Implement and support databases, storage systems, high-availability solutions, replication, encryption, and disaster recovery solutions.

·         Maintain SQL databases associated with production and non-production environments, facilitating accurate testing and deployment of internally developed applications.

·         Keep our data separated and secure across national boundaries through multiple data centers and AWS regions.

·         Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes  

·         Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies

·         Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition 

·         Creating and Managing development / production databases

·         Data modeling and design

·         Database performance tuning

·         Documentation of database systems

 



Requirements

Skills required:

 

·    Ideal candidate will have 7-10 years experience in a similar role

                        Bachelor’s degree or related experience in computer science, information technology, software engineering or a related field.

·     Experience with relational SQL databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and PostGres.

·     Advanced PLSQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

·     Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

·     Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.

·     Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.

·     A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.

·     SQL Server Administration (SSMS, SQL clustering, Data Synchronization, Encryption, Partitioning, Performance and Security), T-SQL

·     Solid understanding of the software development process, including requirement gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version control, contemporary testing methodologies.

·     Strong Experience with SQL query performance tuning.

·     Experience working with JIRA, Confluence and Gitlab.

Requirements
Experience Required: 3 or more years of business development experience selling to senior business and IT stakeholders Experience Required: Demonstrated achievement in sales in the IT industry.
