Patient Financial Counselor

The Patient Financial Counselor will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage, eligibility, benefits, obtaining authorizations and pre-certs as required by the individual insurance company. They communicate patient financial obligations, billing practice, and establish payment arrangements. They verify there is sufficient coding and insurance payer information in order to create accurate estimates. This may require direct contact with the physician and/or patient. They Patient Financial Counselor meets with patients as needed to help educate and explain insurance plans and benefit structures including underinsurance and reimbursements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent Excellent typing skills and strong communication skills Computer experience, Excel, Word, Medical Applications and a Self-Starter Experience in a medical office, hospital, outpatient surgery center or related field Experience with Managed Care Organizations and Patient Accounts
