GEICO is seeking a Senior Manager of Security Engineering who is a highly skilled security professional that can influence the secure design, testing, and implementation of advanced and comprehensive security technologies. You will be responsible for managing GEICO’s enterprise cybersecurity engineering team, with a strong emphasis on cloud, identity and infrastructure security. You will work with security, product, platform and data leaders to deliver on the cybersecurity engineering roadmap to enable GEICO’s development and product teams to continuously deliver new functionality with security, privacy and data protection by design.

This role is a critical to our cybersecurity objectives, and the position requires a strong engineering background, solid leadership skills, and a deep understanding of secure design, software development and enterprise infrastructure security. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the security and integrity of the company's data, applications, and systems.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Act as strategic lead for key areas of cybersecurity architecture and engineering including security technologies, cloud security, secure design and threat modeling

Manage and develop a talented team of security engineers, motivating, coaching, mentoring and setting goals for the team and modeling engineering excellence through Design, Documentation and Delivery capabilities

Partner with the Cybersecurity Senior Leadership Team and cybersecurity engineers in planning and delivery of the team's roadmaps

Collaborate with business and product leadership to promote a culture of security accountability

Build, mature, and operate cybersecurity SDLC. Act as cybersecurity consultant and champion. Partner with Information Management and Business Units for architecture design, review, and approval

Champion technical efforts to obtain and maintain compliance with customer, regulatory, and security compliance framework requirements

Build, mature, and operate tactical and strategic cybersecurity technology capabilities. Ensure output from this capability is fed into cybersecurity identification, protection, and response capabilities

Establish long-term technology roadmap for cyber investments to ensure that these they continue to provide value to GEICO and achieve agreed upon maturity and performance goals

Work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization to build and operate cybersecurity capabilities to reduce the likelihood and impact of cybersecurity incidents

Establish and monitor key performance indicators and ensure that performance goals are achieved

Qualifications:

8+ years of experience working in enterprise level, hybrid technology environments with an emphasis on security engineering, cloud security, secure design, threat modeling, application security, product security, or a related role

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a cybersecurity leadership role

Strong understanding of cloud and identity platforms, security and governance, network, infrastructure, and cybersecurity technologies preferred

Knowledge of common information security management frameworks and practices, such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, SOX, CCPA/CPRA

Experience working alongside technical architects and engineers in enterprise environments is strongly preferred

Experience with secure coding practices, ethical hacking, and threat modeling

Knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, JavaScript etc.

Understanding of threats, threat modeling, and the applicability to business systems

Excellent understanding and knowledge of secure software development life cycle methodologies such as secure design, threat modeling, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevSecOps

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent job experience
