Overview

Color Manager

Responsible for creation, implementation, and maintenance of our color standard operating procedures and internal/external color training guides. Support and lead onboarding of our mills/printers with brand color expectations/process. Redirect/ Troubleshoot any mills/prints that fall out of process. Align and collaborate with our internal teams on process and effective color management in accordance with our customer requirements.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Internal team expert on Target color internal and external color process from beginning to end
  • Lead contact for Target color team; liaison of all communication both internally and externally for Target color processes and expectations
  • Understand and maintain the brand color concept and identity in all approval decisions
  • Spectrophotometer experience (Datacolor & Natific); Natific Certified program preferred.
  • Experience managing light box calibration and annual maintenance.
  • Evaluate and Comment on Lab dips, strike offs & printing for fabric under digital reading & lightbox visual reading.
  • Ensures color consistency to standard across multiple styles and fabrics and vendors.
  • Experience working with dye supplier and color solution provider- Huntsman, Dystar, Coloro, Archroman Soji Color etc. Good knowledge of colors and characteristics of dyestuff for apparel industry.
  • Direct engagement with mills and available for weekly AM/ PM calls with Asia based teams and suppliers.
  • Responsibility over the color operating systems, equipment and relationships with color service support
  • Drive a clear understanding of Customer's Color fastness requirement. Should be able to work with mill partners to address Color fastness issues. Should be able to own communication /lead support exception/waiver process with internal and external partners.
  • Directly responsible for troubleshooting and directing mills for resolution management in development, pre-production and production issues. Provide technical color expertise to teams & suppliers.
  • Operate, set up maintain internal filing with systematic & trackable record on Color standard & Color approval work.
  • Manage, maintain and update both internal and external systems.
  • Regular communication with cross-functional teams and deep engagement with fabric, design, product development, pre-production and production teams and suppliers to maintain approvals in a timely manner
  • Maintains complete and accurate approval records.
  • Communicates detailed directions to vendors and mills regarding all fabric/trim and color submits.
  • Stays current on new color processes and fabric technologies and shares this information with all cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Maintains color management process for all submissions from development and bulk production
  • Effectively communicates status updates and timeline discrepancies with internal and external teams.
  • Supports with color execution issues as needed, reviewing concerns, outcomes, and providing direction for improvement.
  • Assists with research and problem-solving on QA issues.
  • Assists with special project requests as needed.

Skills Required

  • Superior color vision according to the Munsell 100-hue color test >16 score
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office / Excel
  • Basic knowledge of PLM a plus but not mandatory
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Cross Functional Teams and suppliers
  • Basic knowledge of fabric constructions and printing preferred

Qualifications

  • Experience to match skill set requirements and expectation outlined above
  • Ideal candidate will be able to work 5 days in office, however we can offer flexibility for candidates that have the ability to work a minimum of 2 days per week in PA office and 1 day per week in the NY office.
  • Organized and able to communicate clearly and effectively with our global teams, partners and customers.
