MDRT’s Business Development department is seeking a Regional Business Development Manager. The Regional Business Development Manager is directly responsible for retaining existing business and developing new business in assigned market segments in the North America Region. The Regional BDM will be assessed primarily by achievement or over-achievement of budgeted new business for MDRT, MDRT Academy and MDRT Center for Field Leadership, cross-selling revenue and retention of existing accounts. The Regional BDM will create awareness and identify viable opportunities for MDRT Business Development.

The Regional Business Development Manager will, research assigned markets and identify key prospects and new channels to promote the value proposition of the MDRT Family of Brands and explore needs of these segments for potential new products/services; establish key strategies to maintain and develop new sales opportunities, both virtually and in person; develop together with the Senior Director, Business Development an aggressive sales action plan to achieve quarterly and annual sales, business targets for new business and cross-selling targets/sponsorships; develop relationships with new and existing clients at multiple levels, with the help of the Global Markets and Marketing Communications departments for MDRT to capitalize on opportunities and manage business risk; participate in development of a Key Account Management Plan for existing business with NA MERs and Global Markets via data-driven CRM, membership campaigns and engagement activities; develop a new client prospecting plan that focuses on closing new sales with an aim to exceed budgeted targets; proactively sell to identified key targets and new channels to develop a viable pipeline of new business; assume direct account management responsibility over these new clients and, through sales support staff, ensure proper administration and timely renewal of each account’s contracts with MDRT, provide top level account management of existing clients and focus on relationship-building to increase the profitability of each client through relationship marketing and cross-selling.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience in B2B and B2C consultative selling in a service-related industry for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Have an understanding of solution sales and marketing strategies with an established and expansive network in the North America Life and Health Insurance industry, market operations and distribution strategies.
  • Be a skilled negotiator with good influencing skills.
  • Exhibit project management and relationship-building skills for new and account-extension business to ensure client requirements are exceeded.
  • Be a strategic thinker with strong planning and organization to develop solutions by adopting a consultative sales approach.
  • Be computer literate (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Be a result-focused sales personality (hunter), accustomed to working under pressure and achieving stretch goals.
  • Exhibit strong business acumen and be a highly responsible individual who takes ownership of assigned responsibilities and is highly results-driven.
  • Create a client-focused culture by utilizing data to recommend enhancements and changes.
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills to negotiate effective outcomes.
  • Be energetic, enthusiastic and take proactive actions to accommodate working in a changing environment.
  • Be a strong team player who can work cross-functionally to enable us to deliver on proposed solutions for both external and internal clients.
