Overview:
The Supervisor Revenue Cycle oversees a team in the Central Pre-Registration and Benefits department. Responsible for staff, daily operations, and performance outcomes. Provides daily leadership, oversight, guidance, and support to ensure the team meets daily work to achieve target objective.  The role ensures the department's workflow, quality and performance meets the Revenue Cycle's goals. The Supervisor Revenue Cycle works with the Revenue Cycle Manager/Director to develop strategic plans, staff assignments, and goals to ensure operational efficiency.  Acts as a subject matter expert, maintains system proficiency and works with cross-functional Revenue Cycle departments, customers, and support departments to maximize efficiency and wholistic experience and revenue potential. Strong, effective, and consistent oral and written communication is a vital requirement of the supervisor role. The Supervisor Revenue Cycle may assist with daily work as needed, lead initiatives, oversee vendor performance and support with other business functions as necessary.

Supervisor Competencies

The Supervisor has overall responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of assigned team by monitoring productivity, workflows, quality, and timeliness of work completion, as well as necessary coverage and back up on a daily and weekly basis.

Sets, oversees, adjusts, and ensures daily production of work is completed in a timely and accurate manner

Understands departmental requirements and leads teams to achieve performance outcomes ensuring team members industry knowledge is kept current creating fully functional and cross trained team performance

Demonstrates financial acumen regarding metrics and sets specific goals, standards and objectives for intra-departmental processes collaboratively with leadership and other areas.

Manages individual(s) including but not limited to hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans.

Ensures that the actions of the team meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

Optimizes workflow continuously and identifies, informs, and prioritizes process improvement opportunities

Maintains and keeps team proficient with system navigation and changes to ensure maximum efficiency

Ensures self and team remain current and implement people, process and technology changes needed to maintain regulatory and payer compliance

Leads / support departmental needs including vendor performance and other initiatives either identified or assigned as appropriate

Acts as a champion for engagement, collaboration and employee investment creating high engagement, positive culture of diversity, equity and inclusion and pathway for innovation to achieve top tier performance.

Leadership Competencies

Financial acumen in revenue cycle metrics and associated efforts to achieve benchmark outcomes.

Performs staffing analysis to ensure work assignments are appropriate in meeting departmental production standards.

Oversee daily functions, acting as a front-line leader to answer team questions and address troubleshooting issues related to assigned functional area of the Revenue Cycle.Establish and maintain strong, effective working relationships with peers and system leadership; effectively communicate with internal and external customers. 
Lead and provide supervision, direction and technical expertise to team. 
Monitor staff daily responsibilities which include oversight of activity and duties to ensure timely and accurate resolution of requests. 
Approve and monitor attendance per department guidelines.

Lead/Participate in meetings with internal department leadership and across Revenue Cycle as requested.

Regularly lead meetings to help identify training needs, facilitate cross-training, and establish continuous training and learning opportunities for team members.

Remain accountable to the Manager/Director for the detailed planning of steps and resources needed to meet project objectives.

Qualifications:
Education:Minimum Education 2- or 4-year degree in Business, Health Information Management or related area

Three (3) years of experience within an applicable Revenue Cycle Department may substitute for associate degree. 

 

Experience:

Minimum Experience

Minimum five (5) years of experience in a Hospital/Clinic Revenue Cycle Department, experience with registration and health insurance benefits is required.

Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
