Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Opportunity
This role is on a hybrid schedule with a few days in office weekly in our Detroit or Charlotte office with some remote work.

Ally Financial Inc.'s Independent Risk Management function is responsible for objective and critical assessment of risks and-through oversight, effective challenge, and other means-evaluation of whether Ally remains aligned with its risk appetite and risk limits.

Seeking a highly analytical and adaptable Senior Risk Analyst to join our Strategic, Conduct and Reputation Risk team within Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). This role will be critical in supporting the proactive monitoring of internal and external environments to detect emerging risks and contributing to data-driven insights that inform strategic decision-making.

Success in this role requires a strong combination of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate will be capable of engaging effectively across a diverse set of stakeholders, demonstrating sound judgment and a proactive mindset in identifying risks that could impact the firm's reputation, culture and long-term strategic objectives.

The Work Itself
Monitoring & Risk Identification

  • Continuously monitor internal data, employee behavior trends, strategic initiatives, key risk indicators and external developments (e.g., peer benchmarking, industry trends, media coverage, regulatory activity, macroeconomic shifts and stakeholder sentiment) to identify potential areas of elevated strategic, conduct or reputation risk
  • Routine News & Social Media monitoring, escalating where appropriate
  • Maintain an understanding of Ally's monitoring and testing approach, methodology and tools/technology, helping support testing, upgrades and enhancements (Archer)
  • Support review and challenge of findings/issues within Issues Management, ensuring risk implications across the three risk stripes are understood, appropriately tagged and adequately rated
  • Support review and challenge of external communications to ensure alignment with risk appetite and reputational considerations. Maintain a close partnership with Marketing during both business-as-usual activities and in times of crisis/business disruption

Analysis & Insight Generation

  • Analyze trends to identify patterns indicating potential or emerging elevated risk
  • Synthesize information across various sources into actionable insights
  • Support effective challenge activities of first line processes, programs, or risk mitigation strategies – particularly where elevated strategic, conduct or reputational risk may exist – and conduct deep dives on internal incidents to identify root causes, emerging themes and opportunities for control enhancement
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across business units and support functions to validate and contextualize findings

Reporting & Communication

  • Support the preparation of impactful, visually clear and concise reporting materials tailored to audiences at all levels
  • Contribute to the development of insights and messaging of key risk themes and emerging issues in cross-functional forums and relevant governance routines
  • Present risk findings and insights to senior leadership and executive committees
  • Coordinate regular program management meetings and working sessions, including status reports, reporting, minutes, action items and follow-ups

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with and support stakeholder groups, providing insights that help strengthen risk awareness, prevention and mitigation strategies
  • Support initiatives to strengthen program, as assigned

Skills
The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelors degree required. Masters preferred.
  • 3+ years of work experience in the financial services industry required.
  • Experience in Audit, marketing, management consulting, HR , risk/compliance or similar field highly preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with risk and control concepts
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt to a changing and developing environment and work as part of a team
  • Self-starter that is highly organized and detail oriented, and able to drive to deadlines, targets and project goals
  • Effective communication skills with proficiency in Excel, Word and Powerpoint to structure reports and presentations
  • Comfortable participating in and / or facilitating large meetings
  • General openness - wants to learn and excel in all aspects of job - ambitious but willing to perform tasks at all levels, including routine or administrative tasks
  • Strong work ethic, persistence and determination in problem solving
  • Ability to produce deliverables accurately and on time with minimal supervision
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment where on the job training is used in lieu of a formal training program
  • Ability to filter, analyze, and translate data into meaningful information and draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of deliverables and be accountable for results

Base Pay Range
: $ $120000 USD
