Senior Risk Advisor supporting the Office of the General Counsel.

Divisional Risk Advisor, Sr. Specialist:

  1. Provides risk guidance, oversight, and assurance services to Office of the General Counsel (OGC) based on Vanguard's operational and strategic risk framework. Ensures the development and implementation of effective divisional risk controls.

  2. Leads and manages the effectiveness of risk management within the business. Sets measurable goals and examines ways to raise standards, to increase quality, and to improve overall risk management efforts of the team. Measures departmental success in identifying and managing risk exposure and identifies and prioritizes existing and emerging risks and advises on appropriate control design and testing.

  3. Leads and assists the business in the development, implementation and management of long-term risk management strategies in accordance with department goals and objectives, standard risk management policies and procedures, and the overall risk strategy.

  4. Develops and maintains strong relationships and is a trusted voice for OGC clients. Provides consultation, facilitation and analytical support to leaders and crew as new products, services, processes and procedures are developed to ensure risk is properly mitigated.

  5. Is the point of contact representing Global Risk & Security (GR&S) and all of its shared services to OGC.

  6. Creates and manages risk reporting materials including enterprise top risks, divisional top risks, and regular risk updates at risk counsels and other risk committees.

  7. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience. Risk, Compliance, or Audit experience preferred.

  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to collaborate and drive work across multiple divisions and departments.

  • Executive presence and influence skills with senior leadership teams.

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and have sound judgement with sometimes limited information.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
