Engineering Intake and Business Development Manager

Position Summary
The Engineering Intake and Business Development Manager serves as the central point of contact for new engineering project requests. This role supports business development and operations by intaking and coordinating new business proposals/projects and ensuring the smooth handoff into active project execution. This role works closely with Principles and Team Leads to align resources, timelines and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Support
- Serve as a key point of contact for incoming client inquiries, ensuring timely, professional, and courteous communication that reflects the company's commitment to superior customer service.
- Review and assess new opportunities, project requests, and client inquiries to determine alignment with company capabilities, priorities, and strategic objectives.
- Collect, organize, and maintain detailed information on clients, markets, projects, and past performance to support business development strategy and reporting.
- Assist with proposal preparation by gathering and synthesizing input from technical engineers, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and responsiveness to client requirements.
- Track and manage the business development pipeline, maintaining visibility into project status and ensuring alignment between business opportunities and engineering capacity.
- Support proactive business development efforts by identifying potential clients, monitoring industry trends, and assisting in outreach and relationship-building activities.
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of documentation, client correspondence, and proposal preparation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and professionalism.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering to support the seamless intake and transition of new projects from opportunity to execution.
Project Intake and Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all new project requests, ensuring clients and internal teams receive prompt, professional, and accurate responses.
- Facilitate project intake meetings with clients and internal stakeholders to clarify project objectives, scope, requirements, and timelines.
- Collect and organize all required intake documentation, including input on project scope, fees, technical requirements, and any regulatory or compliance considerations in Unanet.
- Evaluate project feasibility in collaboration with Principals, Team Leads, and relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment with company capabilities, resources, and strategic priorities.
- Maintain detailed records of all project intake information to support accurate proposal development, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Support ongoing communication between clients and engineers, serving as a liaison to ensure clarity, timeliness, and transparency throughout the project initiation process.
- Proactively identify potential challenges or gaps in project documentation or requirements and escalate to leadership or technical teams for resolution.
- Coordinate to ensure a seamless transition from project intake to execution.
- Demonstrate superior attention to detail and organization in all intake activities, contributing to efficient workflows and accurate project planning.
Project Communication
- Facilitate clear and timely communication between clients and engineers, acting as a liaison to resolve questions, clarify requirements, and provide updates throughout the project initiation phase.
- Ensure all project-related information is accurately documented and shared with relevant stakeholders to maintain transparency and alignment.
- Coordinate follow-ups and status updates with clients and internal teams to ensure expectations are met and any issues are addressed promptly.
- Anticipate potential communication gaps or misunderstandings and proactively clarify scope, deliverables, and timelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, engineering support, or business development.
- Prior experience in technical entertainment or similar industry.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously and with professional tone and courtesy.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills as demonstrated by a "solutions oriented" attitude.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for client and internal interactions.
- Proficiency with project management tools. Experience in Unanet or similar software preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering workflows, technical documentation and project life cycles preferred.
Work Environment
- Hybrid with two days remote and three days on site
- 40-hour workweek
- Casual work attire
- Occasional travel for client meetings
