Mental Health Practice Billing Manager

ThinkGoodTherapy is a Chicago-based group psychotherapy practice with a mission to provide culturally-forward, uplifting, and individualized therapy to youth, adults, and couples.
The Billing Manager is responsible for timely and accurate billing of electronic Behavioral Health claims for the clinical team. Other responsibilities include:
- Efficiently manage referrals from first contact to initial intake appointment
- Collaborate with clinical team to ensure referrals are appropriately assigned and billing issues are addressed quickly
- Verify insurance eligibility accurately and in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively via email with clients and clinical team
- Calculating revenue and managing payroll numbers
- Develops policies and procedures related to claims processing and cash receivables
- Identify and institute plans to correct problems to ensure accuracy and maximum efficiency to ensure a high collection rate
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) plus 2 years progressive direct healthcare billing experience. 5 years of progressive, hands-on medical claims experience can be substituted for bachelor's degree
- Strong/Expert Abilities and Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Availity, Insurance Portals, and other relevant software tools
- Experience billing with BCBS, BCBS Community, Aetna, United, and Cigna
- Prior experience with TherapyNotes, Availity, and multiple insurance portal systems
- Medical and Billing Certification preferred
- Behavioral Health Claims experience required
- Thorough knowledge and working experience of CPT, and ICD10 codes, HIPAA, medical terminology, appeal processes, billing and insurance regulations, and insurance benefits
- Experience with automated billing systems and data management systems required
- Effective communication abilities, especially working with diverse populations
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $ $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
