Charge Entry Specialist

Job Location: Remote
Responsible for timely daily charge entry, the clients' charges, in accordance with RC Billing Standards and Reimbursement Policy and Procedures. Responsible for seeking resolution to problems relating to timely and efficient charge entry while ensuring excellent communication between management and coworkers while ensuring client satisfaction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of the charge entry function compliant with Federal and State regulations and RC Billing policy and procedures
- Ensures daily accurate balancing of charges posted
- Ensures timely daily resolution of any charges submitted lacking necessary information to allow entry daily
- Prepares and maintains the Charge Log per client; ensuring all charge totals are listed accordingly and are balanced appropriately
- Notifies RC Billing's IT Department and management of any system issues encountered. i.e., VPN access, Code Scan, Allscripts, Tiger
- Maintains working day to day knowledge of the practice management system
- Maintains strong working knowledge of Radiation Oncology coding
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. (Allscripts& Radiology Oncology Coding)
- Ensures strong communication with management team
- Ensures compliance with RC Billing Reimbursement Policies and Procedures to maximize efficiency.
Ensures compliance with appropriate industry regulations and State and Federal regulations.
Maintains working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to assigned responsibilities
- Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients, medical staff, finances and cost-effective health care delivery issues
- Maintains confidentiality of assigned logins and passwords to access hospital data sets
- Strives to achieve RC Billing goals and benchmarks of 80% or better on quarterly QA's
- Understanding that overtime may be required during the month end close process
- Understanding that no Paid Time Off (PTO) will be approved during the month end close process. There may be manager approval based on extenuating circumstances to be determined on a case by case basis
- Demonstrates the ability to work well with peers while ensuring a strong cohesive team
- Demonstrates the discipline to work in a remote setting
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) to four (4) years of applicable medical/healthcare experience is required
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of organization policies and procedures
- Knowledge of health care administration principals
- Knowledge of insurance agency operating procedures and practices
- Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion, decision–making and organizational skills to achieve business unit objectives
- Skill in identifying and resolving problems
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both written and verbally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with all employees and clients
- Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding
- Knowledge of Allscripts, Allscripts Pro PM and Practice EDI Insight preferred but not required
- Knowledge of Epic, Mosaiq and Aria preferred but not required
