Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Verification Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and maintaining accurate medical records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managed care and medical office operations, with a solid understanding of medical terminology and coding practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough insurance verification for patients prior to their appointments.
  • Review and process insurance claims, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in all aspects of patient information handling.
  • Assist in the management of medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes as necessary for billing purposes.
  • Collaborate with the medical coding team to ensure proper coding practices are followed.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of managed care processes and insurance verification procedures.
  • Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10).
  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and medical records management.
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, including patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
