Job Title:
Construction Controller

Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Construction Controller
to lead and oversee all financial operations for a well-established construction company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
Work in Progress (WIP) reporting
, high-level financial management, and leadership of an accounting and finance department within the construction industry. This individual will play a key role in driving financial accuracy, efficiency, and strategic growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting and financial functions, including general ledger, job cost accounting, and financial reporting
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Prepare and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) reports and project performance metrics
  • Partner with executive leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable/payable, and project billings
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data
  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, and insurance providers as needed
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
  • Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role within construction
  • Strong understanding of WIP schedules, job cost accounting, and construction financial management software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation)
  • Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
