Position Description

This role ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and alignment of financial strategies with business objectives. Plays a key role in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial decision-making. Supports business operations and the development of accounting requirements for budgeted activities, client billing, and development of business processes with related internal controls required for financial reporting purposes.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Develop and direct implementation of procedures and systems required for the orderly financial operations of the company.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Direct financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Plan and develop financial analysis and reports.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other financial reporting standards.
  • Manage external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Conduct financial risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and discrepancies.
  • Supervise financial reporting, tax filings, and regulatory submissions.
  • Manage and direct treasury functions.
  • Evaluate operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial issues.
  • Investigate complex financial transactions and prepare reports summarizing the findings.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • years of experience in financial management and accounting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of all federal, state and local tax laws; financial accounting standards; and generally accepted accounting standards (GAAP).
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of software programs.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Masters or MBA preferred.
  • CPA certification strongly preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Frequent sitting and operating a computer.
