Almaden Footprints Preschool is looking for a Daycare Assistant to support our lead teacher by ensuring children's safety, engaging them in supervised learning and play, and maintaining a clean, nurturing environment. Key responsibilities include preparing snacks, assisting with hygiene and potty training, cleaning, facilitating activities, observing and documenting children's development, and communicating with parents. To succeed, our daycare assistant needs strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills to manage a group of pre-school children effectively and foster their emotional, intellectual, and physical growth. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Safety: Monitor children to ensure a safe environment and proper conduct during activities, playtime, and emergency drills.
  • Care and Hygiene: Provide for children's basic needs, such as preparing and serving meals, assisting with toileting, changing diapers, and maintaining good hygiene.
  • Activities and Learning: Assist with setting up and implementing age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, music, games, and outdoor play, that stimulate physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth.
  • Environment and Organization: Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting atmosphere by sanitizing toys, equipment, and cleaning interactive areas.
  • Observation and Communication: Observe and document children's behavior, mood, and activities, providing this information to parents, lead teachers, and other staff members.
  • Communication: Interact effectively with parents, sharing updates on their child's day and fostering a positive experience.
  • First Aid: Administer basic first aid and be prepared to perform CPR when necessary. (Training can be provided, if necessary).

Qualifications

  • Experience: Prior experience working with children would be beneficial, especially for roles involving specific age groups.
  • Skills: Possess good organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Personal Attributes: Be patient, nurturing, and possess strong communication skills to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Professional Development: Be willing to participate in professional development and training to stay current on best practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 15 per week
